Nippon Yakin Kogyo Co., Ltd. announced that it has received certification under the NORSOK standard (Norsk Sokkels Konkuranseposisjon: Norwegian standards for offshore oil/gas-related structures).

NORSOK is a standard that was introduced in the mid-1990s by the Norwegian petroleum industry, which was promoting development of North Sea oil fields, in order to ensure the safety of work, equipment, etc. related to oil drilling and production. In addition to provisions for various types of facilities, construction methods, etc., NORSOK also specifies requirements for materials. It has now become one of the basic standards for oil and gas development.

Obtaining NORSOK certification by Nippon Yakin Kogyo is one of the concrete measures for "Deepening sales expansion strategy for high performance alloys," which was our top priority policy in the "Mid-Term Management Plan 2014" adopted in March 2014. For Nippon Yakin Kogyo, which is devoting great effort to the oil & gas industry as a market for expansion of sales of high performance alloys, NORSOK certification is considered a key move for further strengthening sales and expanding its market share in this important field.
